by Jason LymangroverLongtime friends and musical collaborators Jeffrey McGrath, Michael Bouyoucas, and Elke Wardlaw make up the experimental post-rock group Thank You. With heavy textures built upon primal syncopated beats, the Baltimore trio comes across a little like a mix between Battles and Tortoise. After building up a reputation with tightly knit and ever-sprawling live shows, they released their first album, World City, in August of 2007. Fittingly, the band found a home with the rhythm-happy indie label Thrill Jockey Records, and released their album Terrible Two on June 3, 2008.
