by Steve HueyFormed in 1993 by vocalist Baysa Schechter, the Jewish folk ensemble Pharaohs Daughter is heavily informed by both Eastern European klezmer and Middle Eastern Jewish music, as well as the sensibilities of Schechters orthodox upbringing. The groups instrumentation features woodwinds (flute, clarinet, crumhorn), guitar, cello, tabla, and other exotic percussion. Their recordings include 1999s Daddys Pockets and 2000s Out of the Reeds.
