Alfonso Loher

An ancient philosopher once said: “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”. This phrase could not be more appropriate for the singer Alfonso Loher. From a very early age his family immersed him in a love for music. His father was his biggest fan and always had faith in, and inspired, his talent. Sadly, he lost his father when he was only 13 years old. This made Alfonso shy away from his musical dream. He began his studies in International Relations at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), thinking this was a practical path that would really suit him. Just before the end of his degree, he decided to go to Germany on exchange. This decision would end up giving his life a whole new direction. During his time in Germany, he auditioned for the reality show “The Flatstar”. His audition was successful and he flew to Los Angeles to begin filming.

The show opened up the door that he had closed so many years ago: and he began to dream about having a career in music once again. His voice – at times smooth and subtle, at times strong and melancholic, captured the imagination of prominent executives and producers in Los Angeles’ music industry. Although his first passion is for pop/rock, Alfonso’s voice can master a variety of genres. The singer speaks Spanish, English, Italian and German – and one day he hopes to record in all of these languages. He believes his success is down to a combination of hard work, good decisions and luck.

Alfonso hopes his music will have a big impact on people’s lives. His first album “If I could be with you” came about at a key time in Alfonso’s life. “I had so many things I wanted to express while I was recording the album”, says the singer. “I felt nostalgic because of the continuous and unexpected changed that were happening all of a sudden. At the same time I felt an immense happiness as my dream was coming true. All of these emotions have been captured in the album”.

Alfonso wrote all of the songs one the album, along with the help of various producers: Emile Ghantous, Erik Nelson (Charlie Wilson, Jojo, Boyz II Men, amongst others), Nasri Atweh(Justin Bieber, Cheryl Cole) and Fuego (Jason Derülo). “There will be 12 songs in English on the album, two bonus tracks, and one in Spanish”. At the moment Alfonso lives between Mexico and Germany, and his first album will be released in both countries. In the meantime, Alfonso is living the dream that he almost gave up. His musical inspiration comes from his pure love for music and his fight to keep this dream alive. He finally left the more “practical path” in the background, and music has once again become his priority.
