Berlin based pianist / keyboarder and producer Volker Meitz is involved in projects from Jazz to Electronica.
Besides his own act „Meitz“ , he is a keyboard sideman and producer for various artists.
Volker also runs a nice little recording studio.
Volker played with jazzers like Ensemble Du Verre, Chuck Loeb or Rick Braun, singers Clara Hill, Pat Appleton (Dephazz) or Della Miles (Stevie Wonder), Soul greats like Alexander O’Neal or Temptations, and electronic/club acts like Analogue Freestyle (one of the first German Drum’n’Bass live bands), performing around Europe and from New York to Beijing.
He’s been spotted in extreme situations ranging from... talkbox pipe in mouth, SH101 keyboard round his neck while stomping several pedal boxes... to... just playing piano.
Studio-wise, Volker has had several international releases as a keyboarder, producer and remixer (see discography). Collaborations include musicians from Seed and Peter Fox, Jazz Indeed, Drum’N’Bass-pioneers 4 Hero (UK), NuJazzers Chari Chari (Japan) & Jazzanova, House DJ’s Phonique & Dixon, producer Patrick Majer (Wir sind Helden, Rosenstolz), The Krauts, and a soundtrack-remix for the Brazilian movie City Of God.
Besides his musical education, Volker holds a master’s degree of Electro-Acoustical Engineering and Communication Studies from Berlin Technical University.
As a logical result, he also is a freelance teacher for audio engineering and sound design.
