Where do I begin?...
I'm from the north and Ben is from the south. He says ya’ll and I say you guys. I like mayo, Ben likes mustard. I like fashion and he likes sports. He twitters and I don’t. I love boots and Ben wears flip-flops. Ben reads Hemingway and I like C.S. Lewis. I sew and Ben writes poetry. Ben likes Bob Dylan and I like Bob Barker. I like fried pickles, Ben likes Buffalo wings. I watch HGTV and he watches CNN. I’m slow to speak and Ben talks too much. We have a dog named Banjo. We both have feather tattoos. We want to see the world. We love Jesus. We want to meet people.
We make music and our mission is to love. We are Carolina Story.
We met in Memphis in the fall of 2007 at VISIBLE SCHOOL a music and worship arts college. We began collaborating our musical styles and naturally fell in love and were married by June 2009. Ever since then we have been following our dreams and discovered an even deeper understanding of how God combined our talents and made us better than we could ever be on our own. Our new record, “When The River Met The Sea” shows this:

Ben and Emily came into this album as two individuals, but they emerged with a sound that was unique not just to them as individuals, but really represented them as a group, something that's truly greater than the sum of its parts. It's not everyday, as a producer, that you get to witness this kind of thing in process. Often people are either too set in their ways to change, or they're too insubstantial or insecure to emerge with any real identity in hand, but in the case of Carolina Story, I really think you get to hear the birth of a new poetic and musical voice on this recording. And to my ears, it's a voice that's both moving and profound, both wild and kind. Carolina Story is Emily Olson Roberts and Ben Roberts. As we continue to follow this musical journey independently, booking our own shows, backing our own recording process, and doing all things in between we hope that you are inspired and fall in love with the music we create.
