Alt Altman has been producing introspective dance music in his bedroom since 2005 while playing trumpet and guitar for The Ghost Is Dancing and singing and playing bass and synths for Europe in Colour. He started Digits in March 2009 and quickly set out recording an album, Hold It Close, which was released in October 2009, and features contributions from Rebecca Applebaum and Dave Kates, also former members of Europe in Colour.
