Matt Singer has a sense of tragedy. He also has a sense of humor. Using his sixth sense for songwriting, Matt brings crafty lyricism and a warm sound, placing his listener around a campfire, in the middle of a city street. His “eclectic material ranges from weepy to silly to sincere” (The Deli), and his love for storytelling manifests in the authentic characters that live in his songs. His full-length release All Us Heathens was described as… “Bringin’ It All Back meets Fear of a Black Planet meets A Prairie Home Companion… one complex package” (Urban Folk) and his EP The Drought (Family Records), is an “endlessly compelling album” (Pop Headwound). His website currently showcases his latest studio project: 16 fully produced tracks, known as Live at the Warehouse, Parts I & II (Family Records), recorded in a packed room full of both devoted fans and complete strangers to his music. On these free-to-download albums, listeners can enjoy the lighter, sillier, quirkier and more outrageous side of Matt’s material. He is currently recording his next full-length release for Fall 2011. Matt’s played some of the premier clubs in New York, including Bowery Ballroom, The Living Room, Joe’s Pub, Mercury Lounge and Gramercy Theater.
