Katie V

Every once in a while, a bright light catches our attention and with a wink of an eye it beckons us to join it on its journey. Welcome to one extremely bright and exciting light called Katie V; a rather talented musician with an infectious personality and a voice smoother than a cup of Horlicks.
Born in England (North London to be exact), Katie V (real name Katie Vogel) started playing her first songs at the age of six, when her parents bought her a mini Casio keyboard (remember them?) before progressing quickly to the piano. Katie V had always been inspired by music and spent much of her young life enthralled by the records her granddad Jimmy Vogel used to play when she was around. “I was very close to my granddad growing up, he was always playing music from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, he was an inspiration and really helped shape my musical style. Even when I was so little I just loved it.”
Squeezing in singing between jobs is never easy, but if that's the only thing you really want to do, you have no choice, you just have to go for it. Katie is one determined young lady and eventually things started to happen. "I sang anywhere that would have me!" In the end the hard work got her spotted and within a matter of months, Katie had impressed enough of the right people to land a handful of support slots that lead to her playing at the Shepherds Bush Empire and The Royal Albert Hall. Filled with a fresh desire and spurred on by the buzz of people finally getting to hear her music, Katie was excited.
Earlier this year, Katie was put forward for a new project that Sprite were working on called Green Eyed World. Two hundred and fifty girls were put forward for the project and Katie, blissfully unaware, got down to the final six. Sprite loved her music! After what seemed like forever Katie finally found out that she had been chosen and from that point, her life would change forever. “I filmed the first episode in London and then I was sent to New York – my family and friends were over the moon, they knew how much I wanted just one big opportunity and that I had risked everything and worked so hard for it. It was such an overwhelming experience as I had been fighting for this for so long.”
And so www.greeneyedworld.com was born. A new interactive show, the first of its kind, to integrate Facebook into YouTube so viewers can talk to friends about Katie's adventures, share comments and vote from their Facebook profile. It follows Katie in her quest to realise a lifelong ambition – to share her music with the world, “I’m so appreciative of how far this show has come, we’ve had over two million hits which is incredible, and there has been so much support from the public all over the world. I love talking to fans of the show, hearing what they think of my music and my adventures. I really want to make a mark on the music industry and show that if you want something badly enough and you pursue it hard enough you get opportunities. This is my opportunity”
Now it’s time to finish the final chapter in the adventures of Katie Vogel the online reality music star and tune into the very first chapter of Katie V the singer songwriter, as she releases her debut EP ‘Songs From Under The Covers’. Working with established co-writers Stefan Skarbeck, Sasha Skarbeck, James Bryan and Ian Barter – with credits between them including Amy Winehouse, Gwen Stefani, James Blunt and Seal to name a few, Katie has relished every moment making this record, “It’s a dream come true for me, not only working with the people that I did for this EP, but also that I can finally give back something to all the people who have supported me along the way.” And give back she has, with a quintet of tunes from the anthemic ‘Fight For Love’ to the meaningful ‘Live and Learn’ that will leave you so chilled out you’ll feel like the worries of the world have disappeared… now that’s got to be worth a listen!
