专辑名源于The Velvet Underground在1985年发行的精选作品《VU》，著墨于字首大写的的起始意义，Arctic Monkeys细细琢磨隐微破碎的生活片段，在英国金榜Top8的瞩目话题新作〈Why`d You Only Call Me When You`re High?〉中， Alex Turner让酒精激发的幻影，投射出现代科技和人性彼此衝突又相辅相成的複杂情绪，反讽意味浓烈大胆。
《AM》 姿态优雅的汲取当代Hip-Hop节奏，广泛吸纳来自Dr. Dre、Outkast及Aaliyah等街头韵律，揉合出带著鲜明鬱抑的现代启示，Alex张力奔放的描写爱欲、期待之馀，Hip-Hop像是刻意压低 态度的野性，总在暗处蓄势待发又伺机而动；〈Fireside〉在摇滚嘻哈的衝撞间展现异色的美丽动感，「There`s all these secrets that I can`t keep, Like in my heart there`s this hotel suite」正是Arctic Monkeys洒脱纠结的宣示；〈I Want It All〉直白道出世代不灭的诡奇，「老狗玩新戏」的糗样，又怎麽逃的出Arctic Monkeys揶揄锐利的眼光？

Commercially, AM has become Arctic Monkeys' most successful album to date, topping the charts in several countries, and reaching the top 10 positions in many more. In the United Kingdom, Arctic Monkeys broke a record with AM, becoming the first independent-label band to debut at number one in the UK with their first five albums.
