Dawn Jay is a bi-lingual singer/songwriter hailing from Sri Lanka and making waves in South-East Asia. Renowned for his songs such as ‘Liar’, ‘Time’ and ‘Last Chance’, Dawn Jay is a successful R&B singer crowned as having a tender voice, catchy melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
Initially earning acclaim in Sri Lanka after his debut single “Ride with me”, Dawn Jay landed at number one position in the Sun FM top 40 charts, and continued the ride of success with a group album titled “Inner-Sense”. Initially entering the Singapore music industry as a DJ and Songwriter, Dawn Jay played at clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Phuture, Zouk, as well as performing as a semi-finalist at the Heineken Thirst Studio competition.
Fledging as a DJ, songwriter and singer in the new school DIY “Do It Yourself” era of independent music, Dawn Jay has immersed himself in music to aptly produce, sing, DJ, and mix music.
Determined to make a break as a singer, Dawn Jay’s album ‘The Dawning’ was released under independent record label ‘1OR8FACTION’, with Dawn Jay wooing crowds as events such as the Singapore Mosaic Music Festival 2011, Hard Rock Café, Blu-Jaz, and Teenage Magazine Teens Big Day Out. Following, Dawn Jay created the title theme song for ‘J-Plus Radio’, a Singapore based Japanese radio station. This combined with music videos and interviews on Sri Lanka and Singapore media have set Dawn Jay as a truly multi-cultural Sri Lankan pop-star that has managed to cross barriers with his music. With 14 tracks based on his life journey, ‘The Dawning’ features songs about love, raunchy one night stands, and even a song dedicated to his mother in Sinhalese.
With an impressive list of accomplishments and accolades under his belt, the 27-year-old is set to tour South-East Asia as well as Japan and Sri Lanka with his new release.
