Ivan Davis is Texas-born, and his many awards include the Casella Competition, the International Busoni Competition, and the Franz Liszt Competition. Mr. Davis has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as the National Orchestra of Spain and three of London's reigning orchestras. He made his European recital debut at the Festival of Two Worlds, Spoleto, and has has appeared in recital in Great Britain and throughout the United States and Canada, including performances in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Place des Arts (Montreal). Mr. Davis has a vast knowledge of opera and vocal music, and he is a frequent guest on the Metropolitan Opera's intermission broadcasts. Ivan Davis has recorded with Lorin Maazel and the Cleveland Orchestra, and with Eugene Ormany and the Philadelphia Orchestra, as well as with the Royal Philharmonic, with conductors Henry Lewis and Edwin Downes. Critics from New York to Los Angeles have echoed The Guardian (London): "Davis brought something like intoxication to the whole audience. He takes one back -- or forward -- to a golden age of pianism."

从艺历程：He debuted at New York City's Town Hall in 1959.[6] Davis made his international debut at the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. In 1960, he signed with CBS Records and began a 60 concert cross-country tour.[4] He has toured the world with several major orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra. He has performed under such world-famous conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy and Lorin Maazel. He has received the Handel Medallion from New York City for contributions to the city's cultural life.[7] He recorded for London Records in the 1970s. Since 1965, Davis has been a professor of music at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.[7] According to Grove Music Online: "His Queen Elizabeth Hall début recital in London in 1968 caused a sensation, and has become a collector's item on record. Further recordings, largely of 19th-century showpieces, have confirmed his exceptional exuberance and technical brilliance, most notably a Gottschalk recital of true virtuoso flair."[8] The American classical pianist Richard Kastle was his student for more than three years.

早年生活：Davis received his Bachelor of Music in 1952 from University of North Texas College of Music,[1] and an Artist's Diploma, as a Fulbright Scholar, from the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome. He won second prize in the 1956[2] and 1957 Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and first prize in the 1958 St. Cecilia Piano Competition. In April 1960, Davis won the Franz Liszt Competition at Town Hall, New York City.[3][4] Davis studied under Silvio Scionti, Carlo Zecchi and Vladimir Horowitz.

家庭：On August 6, 1960, Davis married Betty Lou Saxton, who studied at Juilliard and Columbia University. The wedding ceremony took place in the Glass House of Philip Johnson in New Canaan, Connecticut.[11] Theodate Johnson (1907–2002), sister of the architect, Philip Johnson[12] attended the couple.
