Vicki Logan

Vicki Logan has come a long way from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  From her roots in a small town just outside of Escanaba, she's struggled to fulfill a dream of writing and recording music with which to share with the world.
Vicki overcame a lot of hardship, nothing in compared with some, but the typical hardships we all seem to have to face and maybe a few most do.  From a failed marriage and single parenting to physical illness and loss of loved ones, the experiences of her life resonate with almost everyone in some way, shape or form.  The whole purpose of her music is to share the fact that we are not alone.  There is always someone there for us be it a parent, a loved one, family member, friend or God, who is always there whether we see him or feel him or not.  There is always hope.  We can overcome anything that we set our minds to.
Vicki learned quite a bit about the business end of music working for Folk Era Records as a graphic designer.  Allan Shaw was a big influence for her, although we don't think he ever really knew it.  Being able to sit there in the office listening to and taking part in various conversations including booking, advertising, marketing...all of that helped her to learn what went on behind the scenes.
She later released and put out her first album "Chasing Dreams" with the help of Randy Gildersleeve at Gildersound in Forest Lake.  He taught her a ton about recording and helped her to grow musically by creating a fuller musical production.  The year was 2000.  New millenium...new career...new ideas...new life...and her first record deal with Swallowtail Records in Minneapolis.  Vicki learned a ton from that group as well.
In 2003, Vicki released her next album on her own lable, Carvic Records and Publishing.  "Finding My Way" it was called.  It did really well for her and landed her in the Top 100 New Age Albums at New Age Reporter for the year.
In 2004, she released "The Ride" which again landed her on the charts.  That album she was able to work with Matt "Dr." Fink of Prince and the Revolution fame.  She learned a ton about electronic music with him.
2006 she recorded "The Journey To the Places In My Soul" which never got out the door due to a fire that destroyed their home, all their belongings, their pets and their business.  No one was ever punished for that crime, although it was obvious who had done it.  It's a sore spot with Vicki to this day.
2009, after the home was rebuilt and things got back on track, the album was finally released and, without the help of the usual marketing efforts, ended up in the Top 100 New Age Albums for that year.  It was amazing to see so much support still there.
Vicki doesn't do a whole lot of performance these days as a back surgery weakened her back to the point where she is unable to stand for any length of time and carrying a 100-pound keyboard is totally out of the question, but she attempts to keep moving forward, albeit at a tortoise's pace sometimes.  She planned to release a new CD in 2011, but personal and family issues once again took priority.
So, we wait patiently for life to settle down once again and allow Vicki to get out that next CD.   "The music isn't going anywhere.  It's banging in my head waiting to be born," she says.  "Patience isn't my strong point, but life has it's own timing for everything regardless of our desires."
