The Whitest Boy Alive成立于柏林，主唱兼吉他手 Erlend Øye也是挪威著名独立民谣乐队Kings of Convenience的核心成员。他在KOC之余，在与许多音乐人的合作中对电子音乐产生了极大的热情。随后，便在03年组建了The Whitest Boy Alive这样一只以电子舞曲加独立摇滚的乐队。他们的首张专辑《Dreams》在2006年发行。其中的单曲“Burning”也成为他们最广为流传的歌曲之一。2009年，乐队发行了第二张专辑《Rules》，其中一首“1517”作为插曲出现在FIFA 2010的游戏中，也成为他们的必演曲目。
他们动感而又轻快的音乐，就和他们每张唱片的封面一样简洁流畅。大片白色背景上简约的黑色插画，线条分明又充满趣味。乐队这几年到处巡演，让世界各地喜欢KOC的歌迷，感受到了Erlend Øye民谣之余的音乐天赋。
Formed in 2003 as an electronics-based group with an emphasis on the dancefloor, the Whitest Boy Alive eventually abandoned all programming and most other forms of synthetic instrumentation for a typical rock band setup. Guitarist/vocalist Erlend Øye (the Kings of Convenience), bassist Marcin Öz, drummer Sebastian Maschat, and keyboardist Daniel Nentwig began playing a form of straightforward and stripped-down indie rock informed by early Talking Heads and Josef K. They released their first album, titled Dreams, in 2006.
