Ape to Angel

sIndigo is one of Patrick O'Hearn's gentler CDs. His symphonic synthesizer and atmospheric textures forge a different soundscape -- different for O'Hearn, that is. The majority of this album is vivid and clear minimalism. The weaker moments glare in contrast to the subtle timbres and soft melodies. That has long been a problem of O'Hearn's. His great music stands proudly with the best of the best, but he has difficulty maintaining that standard. This enjoyable CD will appeal to fans of Tangerine Dream, Ian Boddy, and John Flomer.
